A wonderful Antique Albert chain from the early 20^th Century made up of stamped Sterling Silver curb links which have been gilded in 18ct Yellow Gold. It features a T-bar hanging beneath which is complete with Birmingham hallmarks dating it to 1920. 

Albert chains were named after Prince Albert and were often used by wealthy gentlemen to secure a pocket watch by attaching it via the T-bar to the buttonhole of a waistcoat. Today though, they have taken on a new function and commonly worn as a women’s statement necklace.   

The piece was obviously very dear to its previous owner and complete with a medal which was made in London and engraved with the initials “C.L.S.C” on the front and on the back it reads: “250 Yds Championship – 2^nd – A. JUDD – 1920”. 

It has a good solid weight to it and holds securely with the addition of a double trigger clasp complete with the maker’s initials “H.P.”
